A Leader in Professional and Protective Services
Robert A. Dorr, the current CEO of DECO, Inc. organized the company in 1986, after six years of active duty as an armed security specialist and security technician with the USAF National Guard and 12 years of experience installing security and electrical systems. Building on these 18 years of experience "Dorr Electric Company" started off as a critical security alarm and monitoring systems and electrical systems service provider to a wide spectrum of tribal, private, state, and federal agencies. Prominent clients during the first years of the company were the United States Air Force including the Grand Forks Air Force Base and the 934th Airlift Wing, the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe reservations, the State of Minnesota and Blue Cross Blue Shield.
In 1998, "Dorr Electric Company" became known as DECO, Inc., and was organized as a corporation under the Minnesota state law. During this same year, Derek J. Dorr, a published graduate degree researcher and educator in Criminology/Psychology, joined his father to advance and formalize their abundant capabilities within DECO to extend beyond security-related systems to services such as critical staffing, security support, and education/training solutions.
One month before the 9/11 attacks DECO was awarded its first FPS Security contracts providing armed security in Region 5 for the Chicago Loop and in Region 7 for the El Paso District. In just a matter of months, excellent performance ratings helped DECO expand and diversify its services. DECO's growth continued and in 2004 DECO was rated number the #2 Fastest Growing Company in the State of Minnesota.
During the next six years DECO continued to build on its early success and its exceptional performance ratings providing personnel, program management, and a wide-range of other critical services to a variety of federal agencies.
